Paul Schatz has made many valuable contributions to the field of education. Thus, he time and again suggested that mathematics should not only be used as an intellectual game but in the sense of the «mathesis» proposed by Novalis, and to let artistic sensibility become part of it. Out of this endeavour, he produced innumberable models of spatial geometry, most of them for teaching purposes.
Stimulated by Paul Schatz's work, several people (among them Klaus Ernhofer, Wolfgang Maas, Immo and Friedeman Sykora) have developed additional inversions. Today, inverted models of all regular solids are known.
